Special City Council Meeting

Special City Council Meeting

By: Magnolia Tribune - October 16, 2007

WLBT, 10/15/7

Jackson Mayor Frank Melton says he’s heard the rumors but he has no comment and no knowledge about any federal grand jury indictments against him.

Melton joined city council members for another special meeting grappling with budget matters this afternoon.

During a break from that meeting, the mayor took questions from reporters. Asked about the rumors of federal indictments, Melton had this to say.

“…I was asked about that earlier today, Howard, and I know what the federal rules are. You don’t discuss anything and it’s supposed to be the same way in the county. It’s dealt with in a grand jury. I can just tell you this. I’m very comfortable with myself. While I will admit that I’ve made a few mistakes but I have never, ever done anything, intentionally, to hurt another human being,” says Mayor Frank Melton.
