Budget deficit remains unfixed what’s next

By: Magnolia Tribune - September 25, 2007

The Clarion-Ledger, 9/25/7

The city of Jackson has until Friday to remedy a $3 million budget deficit some council members thought already was resolved.

That amount, which would balance the fiscal 2007 budget, most likely will have to come from the city’s $7.5 million reserve fund, but pulling money from that fund will negatively impact Jackson’s bond rating.

Council members learned about the shortage Monday afternoon during a budget hearing meeting.
