Death after Taser jolt under review

The initial chase began when police tried to stop a 1994 Mercury Marquis that was being driven in an erratic manner, police said.

The driver attempted to elude police before finally pulling over, at which point the driver as well as Forbes and another passenger bailed and began running.

Timothy Lewis, 25, of Jackson is suspected of driving the vehicle and was arrested at the scene and also stunned with a Taser, police said.

During a search of the vehicle police said, they discovered a pound of marijuana, a scale and about $1,000.

Lewis is charged with false pretense, no seat belt, resisting arrest, felony possession of marijuana and felony fleeing from law enforcement. He is being held at the Hinds County Detention Center.

Police did not release the name of the third suspect; however, the police docket shows Joseph Hayes was booked around the same time and had the same case number as Lewis’. He was charged with felony fleeing from law enforcement.

Both Forbes and Lewis have previous felony arrests.

In May 2006, Forbes was arrested by Mississippi Bureau of Investigation agents on charges of possession of a controlled substance and illegal possession of a firearm.

Lewis was arrested in 2002 on a charge of possession of a controlled substance.
