Jackson taxpayers will have to pay for an outside legal firm to represent Mayor Frank Melton in lawsuits filed against him and the city.
City Chief Administrative Officer Robert Walker said the hiring of Phelps Dunbar of Jackson would eliminate any potential conflict of interest with the city attorney’s office representing Melton, city employees, police officers and any other city officials.
