Health Department requesting $16M more to boost field staff

The state Department of Health needs $16 million in additional funding to hire an adequate field staff to stem the spread of syphilis, TB and other diseases, Interim State Officer Dr. Ed Thompson said today.

Without an adequate staff, “you can’t interrupt the transmission of disease,” Thompson told the state Board of Health.
