Mayor Frank Melton surprised a west Jackson neighborhood Saturday evening. He spoke to residents at Deer Park Street and then escorted several teenage boys to his house. The Mayor said his priority is to get to know the hearts and minds of Jackson’s youth.
“I just talked to six of you and six out of six of you don’t have your fathers. If I have to be a father to everybody in jackson then i’m prepared to do it,” said Mayor Melton.
The Mayor walked down Deer Park Street off Metro Parkway pulling aside teenage boys. He invited them to stay at his house, swim in his pool, and eat his food. The Mayor said his hands on approach is the only way to understand the problems facing young people in the Capital City.
