Candidates from the region seek advantage

By: Magnolia Tribune - July 10, 2007

The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal Editorial, 7/9/7

To understand the importance of Northeast Mississippi in statewide elections, look no further than the 2003 campaign and Ronnie Musgrove’s unsuccessful bid for governor.

This election cycle there are four “serious” Northeast Mississippians on the statewide ballot – other than Hood. State Rep. Jamie Franks, D-Mooreville, is running for lieutenant governor, while John Windsor of Corinth, who has worked in Hood’s office, is running for secretary of state, and former state financial officer Gary Anderson of Marshall County is running for insurance commissioner.
