ROSS – Ross Earns Highest BIPEC Score

By: Magnolia Tribune - July 3, 2007

ROSS EARNS HIGHEST SCORE ON BIPEC REPORT CARD

For the third consecutive year, conservative Senator Charlie Ross has received the highest score of any Mississippi Legislator in the Business and Industry Political Education Committee’s (BIPEC’s) annual ranking. Earning the title of “business champion,” Ross is the only member of the 174 person Mississippi Legislature to receive the highest score three years in a row.

BIPEC’s annual report card grades legislators on business philosophy, attitude and effectiveness in supporting growth of jobs in Mississippi. It is considered one of the leading indications of pro-job, pro-economic growth records for the Mississippi State Legislature.

“I am honored to have earned BIPEC’s highest score in their annual report card,” Sen. Ross said. “A vote for business is a vote for jobs in Mississippi, and I am proud to have been a part of Mississippi’s economic growth throughout the past few years.”

Ross has a proven record of supporting job growth in Mississippi. In 2004, he authored and led the successful fight to pass tort reform legislation, a bill that the Wall Street Journal called “model legislation.” Since the passage of tort reform, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce says, Mississippi is now “open for business.”

Founded in 1980, BIPEC is one of Mississippi’s leading non-profit business organizations, representing hundreds of companies, professional firms, and trade associations.

BIPEC’s ratings are based on an assortment of votes that impact businesses and employers across the state. Among the most important issues include lawsuit reduction, incentives for job growth, and government spending controls.
