Agriculture: Commissioner’s post unnecessary

The elected statewide position in Mississippi that arguably is the most useless – and expensive to taxpayers – is agriculture commissioner.

Back in the days when Mississippi was primarily composed of small farms, and farm families, having a commissioner of agriculture and commerce might have made sense.

Most Mississippians today probably couldn’t say what the “ag commissioner” does, other than run the Ag Museum.
