GE picks Batesville for jet-engine parts plant

Gov. Haley Barbour and Scott C. Donnelly, president and CEO of General Electric Aviation, have scheduled an official announcement this afternoon in the northwest Mississippi city about an hour south of Memphis.

Original plans called for the plant to be built by late 2007 or early 2008, but it was not known this morning whether that timetable has changed.
