Wednesdays with Charlie Ross 4/25

By: Magnolia Tribune - April 26, 2007

Greetings!

I hope all of you have had as good of a week as Sharon and me. I’ve always said that the main reason that I am running for lieutenant governor is because I love Mississippi, so it is a treat to be able to travel the state and meet so many real Mississippians who share our love for the state. In the past week, we’ve visited Laurel, Hattiesburg, Carthage, Benton, Aberdeen, Tupelo, Louisville, and Marshall County. It’s been quite a week, but Sharon and I look forward to every stop.

In Marshall County, I spoke to the VFW for an event honoring Mississippi veterans. We must always remember that our veterans have made sacrifices for our freedom, and we need to show our appreciation not only by thanking them, but also by going to the polls and exercising that freedom by voting.

It was exciting being in Tupelo on Monday because of all of the growth that is happening in that part of the state. Economic development is important in all areas of the state and is crucial to Mississippi’s future. When Mississippi can offer greater economic opportunity and more jobs, we can retain our greatest resource: our children. We need to be able to provide our children with the economic security necessary to keep them here in Mississippi.

Through all of our travels however, one theme has been overwhelming: Mississippians’ belief that with strong, conservative leadership, our state’s future is bright. They believe, as do I, that our families and our faith must be protected. They believe that our government has an obligation to secure our borders. They believe in their 2nd Amendment right to bear arms and protect themselves if a criminal threatens their property. And, most importantly, they believe that we as Mississippians must be able to move forward while still preserving our past. I share all of these beliefs and I have fought for all of these causes over the past decade in the State Senate-and I will continue to do so as your lieutenant governor.

We need help getting our conservative message out to all Mississippians. If you believe in a lieutenant governor who will protect the values that we hold dear, then please tell your friends, family, co-workers, church members, and neighbors about the positive conservative vision we have for Mississippi. Just as important, we need your help by either volunteering or donating. No matter where you live in Mississippi, you can volunteer in your area-there is always something to do. For more information on volunteering or donating, please visit our website, www.charlieross.com, or call our Jackson office at (601) 362-7677.

Best regards,

Charlie
