Allstate Insurance officials have announced a 29.5 percent average premium increase for Mississippi policyholders, but Insurance Commissioner George Dale said it hasn’t been formally approved because he wants double-digit rate reductions in northern counties.
The rate increase will take effect for new and renewal business May 21, the news release said. Some customers in northern Mississippi won’t see an increase because the risk of hurricanes is less in that area, it said.
