“Very seldom do we come to the federal government and ask for help,” Hood said. “This is one of those situations because we are dealing with an industry that our states are unable to properly regulate. And I’ll give you exhibit A. That would be the way State Farm treated the people of the state of Mississippi after the hurricane hit.”
Lott pledged to work on regulating the insurance industry from the federal level, reform the National Flood Insurance Program, advance a bill to make insurance policies easier to understand and set up a database disclosing all automobiles that have been declared total losses.
