The Jackson City Council’s rejection of interim Fire Chief Todd Chandler for the permanent position could be the start of legal wrangling over whether Chandler continues to lead the department.
“If I’m going to be held accountable for running the city, then I’m going to have to hire the people that I think will serve in the best interest of the city. And I’m not going to get into the politics of the City Council. Todd Chandler will continue to be the fire chief,” Melton said.
