Ross kicks off campaign in Meridian

State Sen. Charlie Ross, R-Hinds/Rankin counties, said now that the Legislative session has ended, he can focus on his next goal ? winning the lieutenant governor?s race.

?This race is a contest to determine who has the best conservative vision for the state of Mississippi, and just as importantly, who has a record of performance showing that they know how to get things done,? Ross said.

Ross said he authored the tort reform bill that has made Mississippi?s business climate less hostile, as well as the Castle law, which would broaden the right for people to shoot trespassers in their homes, cars or businesses. He said he also authored Jessica?s law, which requires sexual predators to wear an ankle bracelet if they are on probation and prohibits them from living within 1,500 feet of a school.
