3 hurt in strip-mall gunfight

Three people were shot Tuesday morning after gunfire erupted during a domestic dispute on the parking lot of a busy west Jackson strip mall, police said.

None of the wounds appeared life-threatening and all involved face multiple charges, including aggravated assault, shooting into an occupied dwelling and a felon in possession of a firearm, police spokesman Robert Graham said.

Tonya Miller, a customer at Simply Fashions in the Ellis Avenue Plaza, worried stray bullets could have hurt others in the heavily trafficked area.
“What if people were out with their kids?” she said. “I came up here two times yesterday. I go to the hair store down there. It was broad daylight. That’s terrible.”

Graham, citing a preliminary investigation, said Bridget Robinson, who works at Quick Phones in the Ellis Avenue Plaza, had an argument about 11:15 a.m. with her boyfriend, Sidney Watson, and his brother, Terrance Watson, both 24.
