Tide defense has yet to allow a touchdown
TUSCALOOSA | Two games into the 2010 season, and with the first of several Top-25 opponents in the University of Alabama’s rear-view mirror, a Crimson Tide defense that entered the season with more question marks than experience has yet to allow a touchdown.
Effective play in one of the UA coaching staff’s strongest areas of emphasis — red-zone efficiency — is a primary reason for it.
Alabama ranks second in the Southeastern Conference in red zone defense, just behind South Carolina, in allowing scores on 50 percent of opponents’ ventures inside the UA 20-yard line (2 of 4). Both were field goals, one each for San Jose State and Penn State.
