Newton out to build on strong Auburn debut
“I’m trying to be the greatest player who ever played at Auburn,” Newton said. “I know that’s a high pinnacle, but I’m willing to do anything to put me up there. Winning the big game or just being everyone’s marquee leader, I’m willing to do that.”
This isn’t the first time a junior college transfer quarterback has arrived at an SEC West school amid plenty of hype. Newton’s road to Auburn is similar to the path Schaeffer took to Ole Miss four years ago.
