The ACC’s new TV contract and its Big 12 impact

Conventional wisdom had the ACC struggling to reach any kind of respectable deal. But according to the Sports Business Journal (via College Football Talk), the ACC has reached agreement on a 12-year deal worth $1.86 billion.

Here’s the key breakdown: the ACC, which was averaging just $67 million, goes up to $155 for the contract.

So how does that do for the Big 12? The conference’s combined TV contracts with ABC/ESPN (through 2016) and Fox Sports Net (through 2012) equal $79.5 million, already more than previous ACC deal. The Pac-10 has 53.2 million in deals from ABC/ESPN and Fox Sports Net (through 2012)
