Without Tiger, the PGA Tour is just not in the groove
CLEVELAND, Ohio — Taking a tour of the games we play and watch in this week’s Sports Spin.
For some real fun you could always count the dimples on a golf ball.
In the absence of Tiger Woods, some people worried that golf would lack compelling story lines.
Ridiculous.
If the past week is any indication, the PGA is fine. So long as it moves its next event to the hallways of the Mississippi sex therapy clinic where Woods is supposedly receiving treatment.
With Tiger in the field, a Cialis-sponsored putting contest on shag carpet would beat the best of what’s offered at present on the Tour, where the most riveting topic is club grooves.I’d rather listen to a senatorial filibuster from the pages of a quantum physics textbook than hear any discussion of golf equipment. USGA rules are about as fan friendly as Stevie Williams hearing a camera shutter in Tiger’s backswing.
