Column: Alabama is easy choice with Saban
This may be the easiest assignment I have had since judging a Miss Hawaiian Tropic contest.
I have been asked to make a case for Alabama beating Texas for the BCS national championship.
While columnist counterpart David Climer has been called on to testify for Texas, I question whether he totally believes what he wrote.
Alabama wins this game on a number of fronts.
Nick Saban is a better coach than Mack Brown. Brown is an accomplished recruiter, but Saban has no equal in the coaching profession today.
Saban is building a dynasty at Alabama. He, too, is a relentless recruiter who lands
players to fit what he believes in — size, speed and toughness.
Where Saban excels is preparation. He’s had a month since his team destroyed Florida, 32-13, in the SEC Championship game. We saw what he did to the defending national champions with a week’s preparation. It may be criminal how prepared his team will be tonight with the national championship on the line.
When it comes to X’s and O’s, Mack Brown can’t hold Saban’s greaseboard.
