A rare trip to Oxford

Tennessee and Ole Miss were charter members of the SEC in 1933. They’ve met 62 times on a football field. But only three times have the Vols journeyed to Oxford, Miss., to play the Rebels in Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. Saturday will be No. 4.

Ole Miss has done things a little differently than most. It wasn’t until the past 20 years that the Rebels began to fully enjoy the benefits of a steady diet of home games in the truest sense.
Of the 62 meetings with Tennessee, 29 were in Knoxville. The Rebels came to Knoxville eight consecutive years from 1927-34 to get a taste of Robert Neyland.
Memphis has been the site 24 times, with UT holding a 13-10-1 advantage.
Six times, between 1969 and 1986, Ole Miss used Jackson, Miss., for its home game against Tennessee.
