Urban Meyer fined $30,000 for comment on late Tebow hit
GAINESVILLE – The Southeastern Conference is setting an example, and Florida Coach Urban Meyer must pay the price.
Meyer has been fined $30,000 by the SEC for violating bylaw 10.5.4 with his remarks Wednesday that a late hit on quarterback Tim Tebow should have been penalized, Commissioner Mike Slive announced today. The SEC strengthened the bylaw a week ago from reprimands to suspensions and/or fines should coaches continue to criticize officials. The Sentinel reported Wednesday that Meyer would likely receive a fine and not a suspension.
