MSU STOPPED SHORT

STARKVILLE — Mississippi State had two plays to move the ball six inches. But the LSU Tigers’ defense survived.

LSU’s Chad Jones batted down a third-down pass from Tyson Lee, the Bulldogs’ undersized quarterback, and Lee was stopped behind the line of scrimmage on fourth down with 1:08 left, allowing the seventh-ranked Tigers to escape with a 30-26 victory on Saturday before 53,612 at MSU’s soggy Scott Field.
