Kansas football and basketball teams brawl

LAWRENCE | Of the two promotions for Saturday’s Kansas-Southern Mississippi game, only Band Day was scheduled.
Change the Subject Day became an unofficial late addition in the aftermath of the KU basketball and football turf warfare, and it worked well. With the Jayhawks needing 59 minutes to put away the Golden Eagles in a 35-28 shootout, nobody in Memorial Stadium — even hoopsters Tyshawn Taylor and Sherron Collins sitting next to each other — could have been thinking much about the events of the past week.

For the first time this season, Kansas had to sweat one out.
