Rebels open SEC play at South Carolina
The Ole Miss Rebels know what they’re up against in Steve Spurrier and South Carolina, but there’s another man behind the scenes who makes the Gamecocks such a dangerous opponent.
Ole Miss (2-0) opens SEC play on the road Thursday night against South Carolina (2-1, 0-1 in the SEC), and Rebels coach Houston Nutt is quick to acknowledge the prowess of Ellis Johnson, the Gamecocks’ assistant head coach and defensive coordinator.
Johnson spent four seasons as Sylvester Croom’s defensive coordinator at Mississippi State and has held the same job at Alabama.
