Hilltoppers stun Rebels

The Ole Miss Rebels were six outs away from their fourth NCAA super regional appearance in five years.

Veteran Ole Miss coach Mike Bianco turned to his closer, Jake Morgan, against a free-swinging Western Kentucky squad trailing by six runs in the top of the eighth inning on Sunday night. The Hilltoppers were clearly scrambling. Before they started ripping the ball around Oxford-University Stadium.

WKU slugger Wade Gaynor tied the game at 9 with a three-run home run in the eighth, his second homer of the game, and the Hilltoppers stunned Ole Miss in the NCAA Oxford Regional, beating the Rebels 10-9 on Jake Wells’ leadoff home run to right field in the ninth.
