Fans more interested in sports defections than politcal ones

So the nation went to sleep this week with Arlen Specter a Republican and woke up with him a Democrat. Hadn’t the trading deadline passed in the U.S. Senate?
The politicos have had a breathless field day with this change of parties, but over here in the sports section, there is no cause for alarm. We’re pretty accustomed to defections.

Capitol Hill might be in an uproar to have a senator crossing the aisle, but that’s barely a ripple compared to Johnny Damon going from Fenway Park to Yankee Stadium.

Or Rick Pitino coaching basketball at Kentucky and then later in Louisville.

Or Nick Saban’s football coaching career taking him from LSU to Alabama.
