Gottfried says he still loves UA
Mark Gottfried was fired Monday after 10 ½ years as the University of Alabama men’s basketball coach, but he would not fire back Thursday in an interview with The Birmingham News. “I will never in my lifetime utter a negative word about Alabama,” Gottfried said. “I love the place.”
He said his immediate plans are to “spend all my time with my children and my wife,” but he plans to coach again, perhaps as soon as next season. “I do want to coach. I have a passion for it. I think I have some good years ahead of me.”
