Which conference is best, Big 12 or SEC?
As the college football season reaches its crescendo, another mythical national championship is at stake. There will be no trophy, or even an official declaration. Just pride.
Lots of regional pride.
I’m speaking of the claim as the best conference in college football. The two finalists — and only legitimate contenders — are the Big 12 and the SEC.
A number of analysts on the airwaves and in cyberspace already have crowned the Big 12 as the new champs, at least for this season. The Big Five — Oklahoma, Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State and Missouri — at one time were ranked in the top 10 in the country.
You may recall that I wrote a couple months ago that this debate would not be sufficiently settled until after all the bowl games have been played.
