AU can’t settle for spoiler role
Spoilers. That’s the role some have cast Auburn in now as it heads toward the final four games of a disappointing regular season.
In truth, if what some Tiger fans are saying these days reflect their true thoughts, that’s the role they want their team to take.
It’s the only way, some believe, Auburn can salvage the season. “If we could beat Georgia,” some have said. “If we could beat Alabama,” the more prominent discussions usually begin.
For sure, those would be huge wins.
But the Tigers and their fans should want something more. They should want improvement. They should want the team to play to its potential and they should hope to see signs the team is gaining some ground instead of losing more of its footing.
Of course, not every Auburn fan is playing the “if” game, but it’s being talked about a lot and thought about even more.
