AU’s Rhoads knows what it takes to win against W. Virginia
First-year Tigers assistant coached Pitt to upset in ’07
AUBURN – Paul Rhoads had no idea he was coaching in the last game of his eight-year tenure at Pittsburgh. He claims he wasn’t motivated by the goal of wrecking West Virginia’s national title hopes or winning the 100th installment of the Backyard Brawl rivalry.
But it was a game, like all games, that he prepared to win.
“It’s no different than I told this football team all (season),” said Rhoads, now a first-year defensive coordinator at Auburn. “You prepare during the week and then you go execute that preparation and generally you’re going to have success.”
