The football coach who’s not afraid of top-10 teams or Fortune 1000 trustees sent a message in a weekly press conference that was anything but weak.
The message went far beyond his physical health and emotional well-being, though he touched on both in a stirring, rambling opening statement.
The real message from the Auburn football coach:
If you don’t like me, fire me.
It may be the biggest riverboat gamble of his career. Auburn insiders say some of the program’s power brokers have started discussing how to raise money to buy out Tuberville and debating potential successors in the event the school decides to make a change.
