With Saban in charge, Tide scores quickly

LEXINGTON, Ky. — This is how it goes when Eli Gold, the radio voice of Alabama football, has an audience with Nick Saban, the Crimson Tide’s coach.
Saban is attentive in the interview. He is informative.
And then he is finished.

“He doesn’t sit around and quiz me about my other assignments,” Gold said. “He’s not going to ask, ‘How’s NASCAR going?’ where other coaches in the past did that. He is not rude. He is not ugly. But he is as focused a human being as I have ever run into.”
The result of Saban’s single-minded focus will be on display tomorrow in Tuscaloosa, where the No. 2 Crimson Tide will host the University of Kentucky.
