Dear Haley: Please consider line item veto for The Rez

I refer you to House Bill 1615, the appropriations measure for the Pearl River Valley Water Supply District (PRVWSD). In particular, I call your attention to Section 7, which was added in a conference committee in the final days of the legislative session.

When you study this bill, please remove Section 7 and allow Barnett Reservoir officials to proceed with their plan to require boating permits beginning July 1.

As you know, PRVWSD is the agency that manages Ross Barnett Reservoir.

The Rez, all 33,000 acres of it, is a great asset to Metro Jackson and Mississippi.

It supplies water to Jackson, and adds to the quality of life for thousands of Mississippians who fish and boat on the lake.
