WDAM lauds #msleg’s passing of campaign finance reform

WDAM – Consider This: Campaign finance reform is a positive move for MS

Fortunately, Mississippi lawmakers agree that public officials should not spend campaign money on themselves and approved legislation to make that official back in March.

The bill also requires itemization of credit card expenses and will be enforced by the Mississippi Ethics Commission.

The measure now goes to Gov. Phil Bryant for approval. The governor is expected to sign the bill, which would become effective on Jan. 1, 2018.

Consider this: Campaign finance reform is a positive move for the state and a needed change for Mississippi’s campaign rules, and will only help hold elected officials accountable.
