Mississippi Republican Party Produces Candidates In More Municipalities Than Ever Before

Entire field of candidates is one of the largest in the history of the MSGOP

JACKSON, MS — The end of the municipal qualifying period, today at 5:00pm, marks a significant turning point in Mississippi’s political history. More candidates have qualified to run as a Republican in more municipalities than ever before, including Democrat strongholds in the Delta and in Northeast Mississippi.

“I’m very pleased with our Republican municipal candidates all across the state,” said Governor Phil Bryant. “I also very much appreciate the hard work of everyone from the Mississippi Republican Party staff to our grassroots activists who make our Party successful.”

“As we’ve traveled throughout the state, our message has been that Party matters just as much at the local level as it does at the state and national levels,” said Chairman Joe Nosef. “Our conservative principles should be reflected not only at our state Capitol and in Washington, D.C., but also in our City Halls. I am very pleased that we have one of the most viable and diverse field of Republican municipal candidates our Party has ever seen, and we look forward to supporting them through the general election.”

Republicans are encouraged to actively engage in their respective municipal primary elections leading up to the May 2 Primary Election Day and the June 6 General Election Day. This will help to elect candidates with core conservative principles to City Halls in Mississippi.

The Mississippi Republican Party will be highlighting some of our municipal candidates in the coming weeks.
