New chairman selected for Lee County Democratic Party
TUPELO – A local attorney and former state representative will take the reins of the Lee County Democratic Party.
Jamie Franks will replace Clint Gannon, who stepped away from the county chairmanship after less than a year in order to take a job as assistant athletic director and archery coach with Blue Mountain College.
Franks, of Mooreville, was a member of the state House of Representatives from 1995 to 2007. He was the Democratic nominee for lieutenant governor in 2007, losing that race to Phil Bryant, who is now Mississippi’s governor.
