DA to determine charges against state Sen. Massey

Massey case sent to district attorney

District Attorney John Champion is being asked to determine if charges against state Sen. Chris Massey, his father Jackie Massey and lawn maintenance workers Marcus Lane and Anthony Smith should remain in Olive Branch Municipal Court or if he should send the matter on to a grand jury to consider.

Both sides were in the Olive Branch Municipal Court room Thursday morning to appear after the case was continued from August.

But attorneys representing them at the same time were working out details behind the scenes on the move to take the case to the district attorney.
