Jackson County approves increase in starting pay for deputies
A $116,000 allocation by the Jackson County Board of Supervisors will raise the starting pay for Jackson County deputies to $17 per hour.
“This new rate is comparable to other law enforcement agencies in the region,” said Sheriff Mike Ezell. “We feel it will improve retentio/hiring to maintain and obtain qualified, educated, and experienced law enforcement officers with the department.”
Supervisors approved moving $116,000 from the county’s fuel budget to personal services during their June 6 meeting.
