Bryant praises academic changes
Gov. Phil Bryant has praised changes by the state Board of Education to its new academic standards.
Bryant, as well as other Republicans, has been critical of the Common Core academic standards that the state Board of Education first adopted in 2010 to guide teachers in math and English language arts instruction from kindergarten through the 12th grade.
Both Bryant and Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves, also a Republican, advocated earlier this year replacing the national Common Core academic standards.
