DeSoto County legislative candidates’ campaign fundraising numbers

By: Magnolia Tribune - June 8, 2015

War chests fill ahead of election

A snapshot of state races shows that in most cases, challengers are outspending incumbents in their bid to win elected office.

For instance, in the House District 24 race, records show that Jeff Hale has received a total of $20,158, with the candidate loaning his campaign $16,843. Les Hooper, by contrast, had raised $6,400.

In House District 28, candidate Robert Foster has raised $19,509 compared to Les Green with $9,109.

In the State Senate District 1 race, James David Eubanks had raised $7,023.

His brother, Dan Eubanks, running in the State House District 25 race, has raised $,2950.

By far, one of the largest campaign coffers is that belonging to State Sen. David Parker, R-Olive Branch, through the Friends of David Parker Committee, a campaign fund which had amassed $76,000 by Jan. 12 of 2015 and an additional $3,075 by the last reporting period of May 8, 2015. Records show that Parker has loaned his campaign $20,000, with the Mississippi Optometric Association Political Action Committee contributing $5,000.
