Biloxi Mayor A.J. Holloway checks himself in to alcohol rehab facility

BILOXI, Mississippi — Six-term Biloxi Mayor A.J. Holloway checked himself into an alcohol treatment facility in Hattiesburg, according to the City of Biloxi website.

“Mayor Holloway and his family are certainly in our thoughts and prayers at this time,” said Chief Administrative Officer David Nichols. “This is a decision Mayor Holloway reached himself, with the support of his family, and we’re certainly confident of a full and timely recovery.”

Nichols said Ward 2 Councilman Felix Gines has been appointed as acting mayor, noting Gines has served in that capacity previously in Holloway’s absence.
