Cochran, Childers appear at American Legion fundraiser

TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) — Republican U.S. Senator Thad Cochran and Democratic challenger Travis Childers headlined a political speaking event Monday that was held to raise money for a local American Legion post affected by the April 28 tornado.

Cochran and Childers appeared at separate times on the stage at the BancorpSouth Arena in Tupelo and did not mention one another. Their comments were mainly on military veterans and the rebuilding efforts of American Legion Post 49.
