Bay St. Louis raises taxes as residents speak of ‘a tale of two audits’
BAY ST. LOUIS — In an effort to generate income after an independent audit report could give no opinion on the city’s financial situation, the City Council voted 7-0 on Thursday to raise property taxes by 5 mills.
Councilman Ward 1 Doug Seal said it’s been 10 years since the city has increased millage.
