Gautier council supports increased tax levy by 3.17 mills to cover general fund, debt service
GAUTIER, Mississippi — The mayor and city council, following a public hearing Tuesday night on its proposed 2014-15 budget, set a tax levy of 28.59 mills, a 1.8 mill increase over last year, to support a proposed general fund budget of $9.72 million.
They set 8.11 mills to cover the city’s debt service, an increase of 1.37 over last year, and levied the traditional 1 mill for public library support. The debt service millage funds annual bond payments and general debt related to public safety.
