College Republican Kolby Busby to be impeached after improper endorsement of Chris McDaniel #mssen

College Republican impeached after McDaniel endorsement

The Chris McDaniel for United States Senate campaign has released an automated phone call to many Mississippians. In the call, Kolby Busby a student at Jones County Junior College introduced himself as the Executive Director of the Mississippi Federation of College Republicans (MFCR) and endorsed Chris McDaniel.

Busby made this endorsement upon his own accord. The MFCR had no knowledge of the recording until after it was released. The MFCR has not and will not endorse any candidate in any Republican primary. As an official auxiliary member of the Mississippi Republican Party and a member of the College Republican National Committee it is part of our policy not to endorse candidates in a primary election.

On May 31, 2014 the Executive Board of the MFCR held a meeting via conference call and decided to move forward with the impeachment process to remove Busby from office. The MFCR Executive Board has voted unanimously to charge Busby with negligence in the performance of his constitutional duties. Busby will have the opportunity to present a defense at the next MFCR Executive Board meeting on June 28, 2014 when the impeachment hearing will take place at the MSGOP headquarters.

Mosby is also president of the JCCC College Republicans chapter. Like with many organizations, Busby is free to endorse or support any candidate as an individual; however, he can’t use his office or group affiliation to do so. This is a hard lesson for the kid to learn, but certainly the director of the MFCR knows the rules.
