Davis to appeal ruling he must repay Southaven
SOUTHAVEN, Miss. (AP) – Former Southaven Mayor Greg Davis has filed notice that he will appeal a judge’s ruling that he repay $73,000 to the city for misuse of public funds spent on personal trips, expensive dinners and clothing.
The Commercial Appeal reports (http://bit.ly/1jFXb36) Davis, through his attorney, filed a notice of appeal in Hinds County Chancery Court late Tuesday afternoon.
The appeal was filed hours after Hinds County Chancellor Dewayne Thomas issued an opinion that Davis must repay the funds cited by Mississippi Auditor Stacey Pickering after an investigation into Davis’s spending.
In addition, the ruling stated that Davis must pay the state interest and the costs of the auditor’s investigation.
