Scott County schools takeover in the works
The Mississippi Board of Education approved a declaration of emergency for the Scott County School District, paving the way for the state to take over the district troubled by a warring administration and school board.
Gov. Phil Bryant must still approve the declaration, which is expected to reach him Friday. If the governor signs the declaration, the takeover will be effective immediately.
Bryant spokeswoman Nicole Webb said, once the office receives the emergency declaration request, the governor will review it and make a decision accordingly.
