Better Schools, Better Jobs organizes

New organization to advocate for Mississippi schools

A new organization has formed to advocate for public schools in Mississippi.

Better Schools, Better Jobs filed papers with the Secretary of State’s Office on Jan. 8 to form a non-profit with the planned activity of “advocacy for MS public schools.”

On Friday, it turned in paperwork to create a political action committee, which allows it to raise funds for political activity.

“Today is starting the effort to get organized with what I hope will improve our schools and get us off the bottom of the nation,” said Jackson CPA Charles Lindsay, who filed the paperwork.

Lindsay, who served on the Jackson Public School Board from 2000 to 2006, said he hopes the effort gets statewide support.
